Japan's industrial production increased 0.6 percent in November from a month earlier, the government said in a report on Thursday.

The latest figure comes on the heels of a 0.5-percent rise logged in October, with the output at factories and mines standing at 103.6 against the base of 100 for 2010, on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry also said in a preliminary report that the index of industrial shipments rose 2.4 percent to 101.3.

Inventories, the ministry said, dropped 1.0 percent to 109.6, in the recording period.
