The ICT export slipped 10.6 percent from a year earlier to 15.22 billion U.S. dollars in April, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Import in the ICT sector expanded 9.4 percent to 9.48 billion U.S. dollars last month, sending the trade surplus to 5.74 billion U.S. dollars.
The export fall came as semiconductor export declined 13.3 percent on lower memory chip price and weak demand for system chips. Chip export stood at 8.58 billion U.S. dollars.
Display panel shipment tumbled 16.2 percent over the year to 1.72 billion U.S. dollars in April on stiffer competition in the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel sector.
Mobile phone export inched down 0.1 percent to 1.04 billion U.S. dollars, and shipment for computer and its peripherals plunged 33.1 percent on lower product price.
The ICT export to China, including China's Hong Kong, reduced 15.7 percent from a year earlier to 7.94 billion U.S. dollars last month, but those to the United States and Vietnam increased 3 percent and 14.3 percent each.
The export of ICT products to the European Union and Japan dipped 3.6 percent and 6.4 percent respectively.
