Vietnam cuts reference exchange rate

The State Bank of Vietnam on Tuesday adjusted its daily reference exchange rate between Vietnamese dong and U.S. dollar down by 5 Vietnamese dong against Monday to 23,190 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar.

With the current trading band of plus or minus 3 percent, the ceiling exchange rate is 23,886 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, and the floor rate is 22,494 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, said the State Bank of Vietnam.

On Tuesday, listed rates at major commercial banks in Vietnam dropped against Monday. Vietcombank cut both rates by 30 Vietnamese dong to 23,080 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying and 23,250 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling. Meanwhile, BIDV listed the rates at 23,110 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying and 23,250 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling, both down 20 Vietnamese dong.

This week, the reference exchange rates have seen two downs with total magnitude of 7 Vietnamese dong.
