Vietnam raises reference exchange rate

The State Bank of Vietnam on Friday set the daily reference exchange rate between Vietnamese dong and U.S. dollar at 23,252 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, up 10 Vietnamese dong against the previous trading day.

With the current trading band of plus or minus 3 percent, the ceiling exchange rate is 23,950 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, and the floor rate is 22,554 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, said the State Bank of Vietnam.

On Friday, listed rates at big commercial banks in Vietnam went up notably. Vietcombank has listed the rates at 23,380 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying, up 180 Vietnamese dong and 23,570 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling, up 200 Vietnamese dong against Thursday. Meanwhile, BIDV increased its buying rates by 130 Vietnamese dong against the previous trading day to 23,405 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar and added the selling rate by 150 Vietnamese dong to 23,565 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar.

This week, the reference exchange rates have seen five ups with total magnitude of 40 Vietnamese dong.
