SINGAPORE, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) said on Thursday it was ranked as the world's most innovative intellectual property (IP) office for the first time, by the publication World Trademark Review (WTR).

According to a statement from the authority, this is the fourth edition of WTR's IP Office Innovation Ranking, and IPOS topped the list of 50 of the world's leading IP offices.

It quoted the publication as saying that IPOS had improvements in various areas, including its "refined online platform and ongoing push to help firms commercialize their trademarks and brands."

IPOS's chief executive Daren Tang said the accolade of being regarded as the world's most innovative IP office is a recognition of the passion, professionalism and commitment of his colleagues to supporting the innovators and creators.

"This continues to reinforce Singapore's position as a hub for enterprises from anywhere in the world to use their IP and intangible assets to grow into regional markets and beyond," he added.
