KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's industrial production index (IPI) rose 5.8 percent year on year in February as all sectors registered growth, official data showed Monday.

Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that index of electricity and manufacturing expanded 6.8 percent and 5.6 percent in February, respectively.

Index of mining also rose 6.1 percent, driven by the increase in natural gas index.

The major sub-sectors contributing to the increase in manufacturing sector in February were petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products; non-metallic mineral products, basic metal and fabricated metal products; electrical and electronics products.

In a separate announcement, the government agency said Malaysia's manufacturing sales grew by 7 percent year on year to 110.6 billion ringgit (about 25.59 billion U.S. dollars) in February.
