SARAJEVO, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The "green lane" system that aims to speed up the transport of vital goods like food, animal feed and medical supplies between members of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), opened here on Monday.

Stasa Kosarac, minister of foreign trade and economic relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has announced earlier that all designated border crossings within the system of green corridors will operate 24/7 as well as the customs, veterinarian and other border services.

That should speed up the transport of vital goods, especially products of animal origin. The existing system for electronic exchange of data has been upgraded so that all border services will be notified prior to arrival of priority goods from the CEFTA list, Kosarac noted.

The custom and other required proceedings shall be performed in the most efficient way for all goods, giving priority to the essential ones, in order to mitigate disruptions in the transport and trade of goods caused by precautionary measures taken to contain the spread of COVID-19, according to CEFTA Secretariat.
