Vietnam cuts reference exchange rate

HANOI, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The State Bank of Vietnam on Friday set the daily reference exchange rate between Vietnamese dong and U.S. dollar at 23,198 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, down 5 Vietnamese dong against Thursday.

With the current trading band of plus or minus 3 percent, the ceiling exchange rate is 23,894 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, and the floor rate is 22,502 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, said the State Bank of Vietnam.

On Friday, listed rates at big commercial banks in Vietnam went down against the previous trading day. Vietcombank reduced both rates by 10 Vietnamese dong to 23,070 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying and 23,280 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling. Meanwhile, BIDV also cut both rates by 20 Vietnamese dong to 23,090 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying and 23,270 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling.

This week, the reference exchange rates have seen five downs with total magnitude of 16 Vietnamese dong.
