U.S. dollar slips on Election Day

NEW YORK, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday as market participants eyed the U.S. presidential election.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.61 percent at 93.5534.

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1704 U.S. dollars from 1.1629 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3025 dollars from 1.2899 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.7142 U.S. dollar from 0.7047 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 104.59 Japanese yen, lower than 104.83 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.9124 Swiss franc from 0.9201 Swiss franc, and it decreased to 1.3168 Canadian dollars from 1.3226 Canadian dollars.
