Tokyo stocks open lower on Wall Street overnight fall

TOKYO, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Wednesday, as market players took a cue from an overnight fall on Wall Street.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 211.57 points, or 0.81 percent, from Tuesday to 25,803.05.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, decreased 14.88 points, or 0.86 percent, at 1,719.78.

Nonferrous metal, air transportation, and iron and steel issues comprised those that shed the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
