TOKYO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Friday morning as investor sentiment was boosted by Wall Street's advance overnight on improving U.S. weekly jobless claims data, while a comparatively weak yen against the U.S. dollar lifted exporters.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 389.02 points, or 1.37 percent, from Thursday to 28,730.97.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 21.69 points, or 1.16 percent, at 1,886.81.

Air transportation, mining and transportation equipment issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
