TOKYO, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as investors snapped up bargains following the market's recent decline, with sentiment further bolstered by a pullback in U.S. Treasury yields and eased concerns over borrowing costs.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 300.29 points, or 1.03 percent, from Monday to 29,474.44.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 10.89 points, or 0.55 percent, at 2,001.07.

Rubber product, electric appliance and metal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
