TOKYO, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks dropped Friday morning as sentiment was dented by a spike in U.S. bond yields hitting U.S. stocks overnight amid jitters ahead of the outcome of the Bank of Japan's policy setting meeting.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 261.95 points, or 0.87 percent, from Thursday to 29,954.80.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.52 points, or 0.37 percent, at 2,000.99.

Rubber product, oil and coal product, and service issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
