The seasonally-adjusted production in all industries, which exclude the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, stood at 110.8 in October, down 1.9 percent from the previous month, according to Statistics Korea.
It marked the fastest fall in one and a half years since April last year.
Industrial production retreated 0.7 percent in July and 0.1 percent in August respectively, before rebounding 1.1 percent in September.
Production among manufacturers went down 3.1 percent in October from a month earlier, continuing to slump for the fourth consecutive month.
Output in the services industry shrank 0.3 percent in October, after growing 1.4 percent in September.
Production in the public administration sector plunged 8.9 percent last month, and output in the construction sector declined 1.3 percent on a monthly basis.
