S.Korea's consumer price rises 4.8 pct in April

SEOUL, May 3 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's consumer price rose 4.8 percent in April from a year earlier, statistical office data showed Tuesday.

The consumer price index was 106.85 in April, up 4.8 percent from a year earlier, according to Statistics Korea.

It marked the fastest increase in 13 and a half years since October 2008, topping 4 percent for the second straight month.

Oil products price surged 34.4 percent last month, and livestock products price gained 7.1 percent.

Price for electricity, tap water and natural gas climbed 6.8 percent in April, and services price added 3.2 percent.
