Vietnam's retail sales, service revenue up 6.5 pct in 4 months

HANOI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues increased 6.5 percent year on year between January and April to more than 1,777.4 trillion Vietnamese dongs (78.3 billion U.S. dollars), according to the country's General Statistics Office on Wednesday.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at nearly 1,429.3 trillion Vietnamese dongs (about 63 billion U.S. dollars), up 7.6 percent, with the sales of food growing 13.2 percent, and those of cultural and educational products increasing 11.5 percent.

In the four-month period, restaurant and accommodation revenues totaled nearly 171 trillion Vietnamese dongs (7.5 billion U.S. dollars), up 5.2 percent, and tourism revenues stood at over 4.3 trillion Vietnamese dongs (190.4 million U.S. dollars), up 10.5 percent year on year, according to the office.

In 2021, Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues decreased 3.8 percent from the previous year to over 4,789 trillion Vietnamese dongs (nearly 211 billion U.S. dollars).

Specifically, its goods retail sales increased 0.2 percent to nearly 3,951 trillion Vietnamese dongs (174 billion U.S. dollars).
