Vietnam's automobile import down in 4 months

HANOI, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam spent nearly 2.8 billion U.S. dollars importing completely-built automobiles and components for assembly in the first four months of this year, posting a year-on-year decrease of 1.7 percent.

Specifically, the country imported 40,792 completely-built automobiles worth more than 1 billion dollars, down 18.7 percent in volume and 9.5 percent in value, according to the country's Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday.

Last year, Vietnam spent nearly 8.7 billion dollars importing automobiles and components for assembly, up 36.2 percent against 2020, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
