The company held an inaugural ceremony at Hankook Technoring, its new proving ground built in Taean, some 150 km southwest of Seoul.
Featuring the longest test track in Asia and comprising 13 test tracks, the proving ground covers 1.26 million square meters that is as large as 125 soccer fields.
The test tracks are designed to accommodate all types of vehicles from supercars to trucks and buses, while testing capabilities include high-speed driving tests at up to 250 km/h.
"Tires, being the only media in a vehicle that makes contact with the road surface, is the key for maximizing vehicle performance, providing safety, satisfying fuel efficiency and driving comfort," said Cho Hyun-bum, chairman and chief executive at Hankook & Company.
"This is why we at Hankook recognize the need for various testing grounds to ensure the best product quality in all conditions," said Cho.
