Vietnam's retail sales, service revenue up 11.7 pct in 6 months

HANOI, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues increased 11.7 percent year on year between January and June to nearly 2,717 trillion Vietnamese dongs (117.6 billion U.S. dollars), according to the country's General Statistics Office on Friday.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at roughly 2,173.9 trillion Vietnamese dongs (94.1 billion U.S. dollars), up 11.3 percent, with the sales of petroleum growing 22 percent, and those of cultural and educational products increasing 16.3 percent.

In the six-month period, restaurant and accommodation revenues totaled approximately 268.9 trillion Vietnamese dongs (11.6 billion U.S. dollars), up 20.9 percent, and tourism revenues stood at roughly 8.6 trillion Vietnamese dongs (371.3 million U.S. dollars), surging 94.4 percent year on year, according to the office.

In 2021, Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues decreased 3.8 percent from the previous year to over 4,789 trillion Vietnamese dongs (nearly 211 billion U.S. dollars).
