Trade in Vietnam continued to expand in the first half of this year, and domestic mobility, manufacturing and consumption rapidly recovered, according to the Asian Development Outlook Supplement 2022.
The economy, however, still faces challenges from a deteriorating external economic environment, the report said.
The forecast for Vietnam's inflation this year remains at 3.8 percent, while food production will remain "ample" once external demand is met, the report said.
The GDP growth and inflation forecasts are unchanged compared to ADB's April projection.
The bank also revised the GDP growth for Southeast Asia up slightly to 5.0 percent in 2022.
Despite a strong rebound thanks to the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions and reopening of markets and borders, Southeast Asian economies still face challenges such as increasing oil prices, the end of low global interest rates, and continuing trade and supply disruptions, the report said.
