According to the Cabinet Office's preliminary report, Japan's gross domestic product (GDP) expanded an annualized 2.2 percent in the April-June period as the country rebounds from the downside effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest expansion, a result of improved consumption, comes on the heels of a revised 0.1 percent increase in the January-March period, the data showed.
Accounting for half of Japan's total GDP, private consumption in the recording period increased 1.1 percent, while capital expenditure rose 1.4 percent, the latest data showed.
