SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's corporate bond sale posted a double-digit growth last month due to the refinancing of matured debts by industrial companies, financial watchdog data showed Thursday.

The issuance of corporate bonds came in at 20.6 trillion won (15.3 billion U.S. dollars) in July, up 22.3 percent from the previous month, according to Financial Supervisory Service.

The double-digit increase came as industrial companies refinanced the increased maturing debts.

Bonds, sold by industrial companies, surged 86.8 percent over the month to 3.28 trillion won (2.4 billion U.S. dollars) in July, while financial companies-issued bonds jumped 25.4 percent to 16.76 trillion won (12.5 billion U.S. dollars).

The sale of asset-backed securities (ABS) tumbled 67.4 percent to 562 billion won (418.6 million U.S. dollars) in the cited month.

Equity financing, including initial public offering (IPO) and rights issuance, came to 703.1 billion won (523.7 million U.S. dollars) in July, down 44.1 percent from the prior month.
