CHICAGO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange rose on Monday in correction.

The most active gold contract for April delivery rose 2.9 U.S. dollars, or 0.15 percent, to close at 1,879.5 dollars per ounce.

After sliding almost 5 percent from its highs last week, gold rebounded in correction.

Nevertheless, rising U.S. dollar index and U.S. Treasury yields capped gold's rise.

U.S. President Joe Biden will give his State of the Union speech Tuesday night.

Silver for March delivery fell 16.8 cents, or 0.75 percent, to close at 22.237 dollars per ounce. Platinum for April delivery fell 5.7 dollars, or 0.58 percent, to close at 974.6 dollars per ounce.
