The nominal monthly average wage per capita in businesses with one or more regular employees grew 1.1 percent from a year earlier to 3,963,000 won (2,930 U.S. dollars) in July, according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The real monthly wage shrank 1.1 percent to 3,564,000 won (2,640 dollars) in the cited month, keeping a downward trend since March.
The real wage had been on the decline since April 2022 except February this year.
For the first seven months of this year, the real monthly wage declined 1.5 percent to 3,559,000 won (2,630 dollars) compared to the same period of last year.
During the seven-month period, consumer prices advanced 3.7 percent on a yearly basis.
The monthly average working hours per worker in the businesses retreated 1.7 percent over the year to 158.9 hours in July.
The water, sewage and waste disposal industry recorded the longest monthly working hours of 173.5, followed by the manufacturing industry with 173.1 hours.
The construction sector logged the shortest working hours of 129.8 in the cited month.
