S. Korea's chipmaker SK Hynix logs operating loss for 4th quarter in Q3

SEOUL, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix logged operating loss for the fourth consecutive quarter amid a prolonged memory chip downturn, a regulatory filing showed Thursday.

Operating loss amounted to 1.79 trillion won (1.3 billion U.S. dollars) in the third quarter compared with 1.66 trillion won (1.2 billion dollars) reported a year earlier.

The South Korean chipmaker posted an operating loss of 2.88 trillion won (2.1 billion dollars) in the second quarter, 3.4 trillion won (2.5 billion dollars) in the first quarter of 2023, and 1.9 trillion won (1.4 billion dollars) in the fourth quarter of last year.

Revenue declined 17.5 percent over the year to 9.07 trillion won (6.7 billion dollars) in the July-September quarter.

Net loss stood at 2.18 trillion won (1.6 billion dollars) in the third quarter, compared with a net profit of 1.11 trillion won (816.7 million dollars) in the same quarter of last year.
