Outbound shipment gained 2.2 percent from a year earlier to 33.79 billion U.S. dollars in the Nov. 1-20 period, according to Korea Customs Service.
The daily average export grew 2.2 percent in the 20-day period. The export marked the first expansion in 13 months in October.
Import shrank 6.2 percent to 35.21 billion dollars in the period, sending the trade deficit to 1.42 billion dollars.
Semiconductor export added 2.4 percent to 5.41 billion dollars in the cited period. The chip shipment kept declining for the 15th straight month through October.
Outbound shipment for cars and home appliances expanded in double figures, but export for ships and computers decreased in double digits.
Import for oil products and mobile devices recorded a double-digit gain in the same period, but those for natural gas, cars and semiconductor equipment dived in double digits.
