TOKYO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Japan's industrial output rose more than expected in October, logging a 1.0 percent rise from the previous month, government data showed Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted index of production at factories and mines came to 104.6 against the 2020 base of 100, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a preliminary report, beating the market forecast of a 0.8 percent gain.

The rise of the production figures followed an upwardly revised 0.5 percent uptick in September.

Breaking down the index, shipments added 0.2 percent month on month, up for the second consecutive month, while inventories were up 0.8 percent for the first increase in three months.

According to the ministry's forecast for industrial production, output is expected to drop 0.3 percent month on month in November and expand 3.2 percent in December.
