The Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Fabrizio Marcelli made the announcement during a joint visit to a public school with Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Halabi and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) Deputy Representative in Lebanon Ettie Higgins.
"Following its rehabilitation, the Aramoun Public Secondary School is now offering a better educational environment for students," Halabi said.
The school has solar energy, and its playgrounds, halls, and classrooms are designed to the best standards. Rehabilitated school buildings are urgently needed to accompany the enhanced teaching curriculum, Halabi added.
For his part, Marcelli said that since 2017, Italy has been committed to fostering inclusive and high-quality education in Lebanon, by providing around 60 million euros which have been used to rehabilitate 107 public schools so far.
