Vietnam's retail sales, service revenues up 8.7 pct in 7 months

HANOI, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues increased 8.7 percent year on year in the first seven months of this year to more than 3.62 quadrillion Vietnamese dong (143.2 billion U.S. dollars), according to the latest data of the General Statistics Office.

During the cited period, restaurant and accommodation revenues increased 15.2 percent, and tourism revenues surged 31.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at over 2.8 quadrillion dong (110.7 billion dollars), up 7.4 percent, with sales of food and foodstuff growing 10.7 percent, those of household devices and equipment rising 11.1 percent, and those of clothing going up 9.1 percent.

In July alone, revenue from retail sales of consumer goods and services totaled 528.3 trillion dong (20.9 billion dollars), an increase of 9.4 percent year on year thanks to major contributions of food and accommodation services, said the office.
