Myanmar receives 700,000 foreign tourists in Jan.-July

YANGON, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar received nearly 700,000 foreign tourists in the first seven months of this year, Tin Zaw Myint, director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism told Xinhua on Thursday.

This marks an increase in foreign tourist arrivals from the same period last year, which recorded about 610,000 foreign visitors, he said.

Most of the tourists are from China, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan, Tin Zaw Myint said.

Last year, Myanmar attracted over 1 million foreign tourists, he added.
