Philippines' total external trade drops 3.5 pct in December last year

MANILA, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines' total external trade in goods declined 3.5 percent year on year in December 2023 to 15.57 billion U.S. dollars, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Friday.

Of the total external trade in December 2023, the agency said 62.9 percent were imported goods, while the rest were exported goods.

It said the balance of trade in goods, the difference between the value of exports and imports, in December 2023 amounted to -4.01 billion dollars, indicating a trade deficit with an annual decrease of 11 percent.
