DHAKA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh shipped goods worth 5.72 billion U.S. dollars in January, an increase of 11.45 percent year-on-year, showed official data.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data posted on its website on Sunday showed that Bangladesh's total exports in the first seven months of the current 2023-24 fiscal year (July 2023-June 2024) reached 33.26 billion dollars, up 2.52 percent year-on-year.

The increase was attributed to some extent to good performance in the ready-made garment sector.

Bangladesh earned 28.36 billion dollars from exports of the ready-made garment in the July-January period, compared to 27.42 billion dollars a year earlier.

Bangladesh set its export target in the 2023-24 fiscal year at 62 billion dollars, including over 52 billion dollars from ready-made garment products.
