Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports surge 80 pct in January

HANOI, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports in January saw a significant increase of 80 percent to 5.14 billion U.S. dollars year-on-year, Vietnam News reported Monday, citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In this month, the export revenue for forestry products reached 1.49 billion dollars, up 73 percent; seafood 730 million dollars, up 61 percent; and farm produce 2.71 billion dollars, up 94 percent, according to the report.

China was the largest consumer of Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery products, accounting for 23 percent of the total or marking a yearly rise of 106 percent, said the ministry.

In 2023, Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports posted more than 53.2 billion dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.3 percent, according to the ministry.
