U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.15 percent to 104.268 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0876 U.S. dollars from 1.0882 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.2793 U.S. dollars from 1.2781 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.10 Japanese yen, higher than 154.71 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8932 Swiss francs from 0.8895 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3689 Canadian dollars from 1.3680 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 10.3973 Swedish kronor from 10.4360 Swedish kronor.
