SEOUL, July 16 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export volume rose for the 10th consecutive month due to strong demand for locally-made tech products, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The export volume index gained 2.6 percent in June from a year earlier, continuing to increase since September 2023, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

In terms of volume, the outbound shipment for computer, electronic and optical devices, including semiconductors, jumped 14.7 percent in June on a yearly basis, keeping an upward trend for the 11th straight month.

Export volume for farm goods, textiles, oil products, chemicals, primary metal products, machinery, equipment and transport equipment all lost ground in June.

The export value index increased 7.3 percent in June compared to the same month of 2023 after going up 10.1 percent in May.

The import volume index retreated 9.0 percent in June from a year earlier, while the import value index slipped 7.7 percent in the same month.

The net terms-of-trade index for goods, or a ratio of export prices to import prices, advanced 3.2 percent in June from a year earlier owing to faster growth in export prices than import prices.
