Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has formulated a "Belt and Road" action plan for 2016 to build an all-dimensional opening-up pattern.
As a starting point of the Silk Road Economic Belt in Shaanxi, Xi'an will promote traffic network interconnections, accelerate construction of the Xi'an Port, international logistics parks, imported meat and grain designated ports, and ensure construction of the Xi'an railway logistics distribution center within the year.
Meanwhile, the city will also strengthen IT-application and intelligent construction of its airport, and complete feasibility research on the third-phase extension project of the International Airport of Xianyang.
In addition, Xi'an will make efforts to promote people-to-people exchanges and international tourism cooperation, and build a batch of Silk Road cultural tourism projects. It will actively advance application for establishment of a free trade zone (FTZ) to learn and promote experience of the Shanghai FTZ, and try to become headquarters of some international and regional financial institutions, under the action plan.
