East China's Shanghai announced on Thursday that it had sold and granted license plates to 1,474 new energy vehicles (NEV) in August, including 53 units Tesla electric cars. Among the total 1,474 NEVs, plug-in hybrid power vehicles took up 937 units and pure electric vehicles accounted for 537 units. During the first eight months, Shanghai sold and granted licenses plates to 20,954 NEVs in total.
