Policies to boost e-commerce of agricultural products are expected to emerge during the forthcoming Fifth Plenary Session of 18th Central Committee, which is scheduled to convene on October 26-29.
The conference will work on the 13th Five-year Plan, which will include guidelines for China's development during 2016-2020. Earlier, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) pledged to take measures to boost development and innovation of e-commerce for agricultural products, such as connecting supermarket chains with information platforms of agricultural products.
Agriculture has always been the priority for Chinese policymakers and "modernization of agriculture" has been set as a key area of the 13th Five-year Plan. The Chinese government is expected to make breakthroughs in making policies concerning e-commerce of agricultural products, because the marketing and profitability of agricultural products affect farmers' income directly.
