China's new energy vehicles (NEV) output increased about three-fold year on year to 99,800 units in December, 2015, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday.
The data comes from the number of vehicle registrations, based on the work certificates used by auto assembly plants. In a breakdown, the output of pure electric passenger vehicles surged 114 percent on year to 25,700 units; the output of plug-in hybrid power passenger vehicles was 10,500 units, hiking about two-fold year on year; the output of pure electric commercial vehicles grew about six-fold year on year to 57,800 units; and the output of plug-in hybrid power commercial vehicles rose 51 percent year on year to 5,725 units.
Among the total output, 92 percent or 91,800 units were listed in the catalogue of NEVs eligible for purchase tax exemption. In the whole 2015, the NEV output totaled 379,000 units, growing almost four-fold year on year.
Among the total, the output of pure electric passenger vehicles skyrocketed three-fold on year to 142,800 units; the output of plug-in hybrid power passenger vehicles was 63,600 units, increasing about three-fold year on year; the output of pure electric commercial vehicles grew about eight-fold year on year to 147,900 units; and the output of plug-in hybrid power commercial vehicles rose 79 percent year on year to 24,600 units.
