ZTEV Corporation, a subsidiary of China's leading telecom equipment supplier ZTE (000063.SZ), has put the wireless charging technology for new energy vehicles (NEV) into service in a number of cities, including Xiangyang, Chengdu, Gaoming, Changchun, Guiyang and Dali.
The company's vice president Tian Feng said the wireless charging technology has been widely used in the field of charging mobile phones and will play a role in solving the NEV charging difficulty.
He said the new technology enables NEVs to get recharged without going to charging stations or battery swap stations, but to use the vehicle-mounted wireless energy receiving modules and the sending modules installed at parking spaces to achieve destination charging.
Industry insiders believe the new technology will reduce the difficulty in charging facility construction, as the wireless charging equipment are small in size. That will lower the construction and operation costs and boost the rapid development of NEV industry.
