Myanmar, China's Huawei sign MoU for ICT cooperation

YANGON, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies (Fed. MES) and China’s Huawei telecommunications company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

The two-year MoU was signed on Monday to jointly promote the development and release of indoor coverage and FTTH (Fibre To The Home) standards, according to the press release.

Under the agreement, a long-term indoor coverage digitalization summit and relevant initiatives will be held and the two organizations will cooperate in the promotion and operation and implementation of indoor coverage and FTTH standards.


Zhang Liman, CEO of Huawei Myanmar, announced that the first Myanmar Indoor Coverage Digitalization Summit will be held later this year at which latest trends and topics will be shared through in-depth conversations.

Also, collaborations will be carried out by the Fed. MES and Huawei in implementation of the cloud, e-learning, certification programs as well as internship programs.

“We are pleased to be having Huawei, a global leader in ICT, as a partner to develop Myanmar’s overall capability in this field, in accordance with the terms of this MoU,” U Aung Myint, President of Fed. MES said, pledging to cooperate with Huawei to uplift the level of the country’s future generation of engineers.
