Chinese listed thermal power generation companies reported sound operating results in the first nine months of 2015 while the performance of hydraulic power companies were divided, said a report by China Securities Journal on Tuesday.
So far, 16 power generation enterprises floated on Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses have released third-quarter results. Thermal power plants saw improvement in profitability on lower coal prices, upgraded power generation units and more effective management.
China's benchmark power coal price dropped over 20 percent to 384 yuan/tonne in the third quarter from 497 yuan/tonne in the same time of 2014.
Most hydraulic power generating companies reported growth in profits in the third quarter, though Sichuan Mingxing Electric Power Co., Ltd. and some others saw poorer results in the quarter.
