U.S. dollar little changed in holiday-thinned trading

NEW YORK, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar was little changed in holiday-thinned trading on Tuesday, ahead of the Christmas holiday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, rose 0.02 percent at 97.6767 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1085 U.S. dollars from 1.1093 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2958 dollars from 1.2939 dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar fell to 0.6923 U.S. dollar from 0.6924 U.S. dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 109.38 Japanese yen, higher than 109.36 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9798 Swiss franc from 0.9817 Swiss franc, and it was up to 1.3163 Canadian dollars from 1.3151 Canadian dollars.
