Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) corn, wheat and soybeans all closed higher Monday.
The most active corn contract for May delivery rose 2.50 cents, or 0.68 percent, to close at 3.695 dollars per bushel. May wheat delivery added 3.50 cents, or 0.76 percent, to close at 4.665 dollars per bushel. May soybeans gained 4.50 cents, or 0.50 percent, to close at 9.02 dollars per bushel.
Analysts said that wheat extended gains Monday on expectations that the colder weather in U.S. south plains at weekend would curb wheat yields. They nevertheless noted that the gains of wheat futures were limited as warmer weather is forecast for those same areas later on.
New fund buying on Monday also helped send the three major agriculture commodities higher, according to Agresource, the Chicago-based agriculture consultancy, in its daily commentary.
