Shanghai crude oil futures open lower

SHANGHAI, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Crude oil futures opened lower Thursday on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.

The most active crude oil contract for July delivery was down 8.9 yuan (about 1.29 U.S. dollars) to open at 497.7 yuan a barrel.

China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investors, in March 2018.
