Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower in early trading Monday after the latest 12-party Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact negotiations ended without agreement Friday. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 57.86 points, or 0.28 percent, from Friday to 20,527.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 1.13 points, or 0.07 percent, at 1,658.39. Decliners were led by oil and coal products, steel products and mining.
