A total of 199,300 new accounts for trading shares listed on China's Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses were opened last week (August 31-September 2), down 43 percent from the previous week, according to latest statistics published by China Securities Depository and Clearing Co., Ltd. on Tuesday.
Investors' stock trade became less active in the week with some 18.76 million accounts participating in stock trade last week, representing 20.08 percent of the total number of accounts, marking the second week of decline in the number of trading accounts. Analysts deem that the slack trade indicated that investors' sentiment has not been recovered.
