Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday following a disappointing showing overnight on U.S. and European bourses on concerns for the global economic recovery, and robust machinery orders data here failed to lift the market mood. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 191.53 points, or 0. 98 percent, from Tuesday to end at 19,301.07, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 13.15 points, or 0.84 percent, to close at 1,555.58. Pharmaceuticals, insurance and food-linked issues comprised the day's notable decliners. The turnover was 2.394 trillion yen (19. 50 billion U.S. dollars).
