Tokyo shares open higher on BOJ easing

Tokyo shares opened the trading Monday higher on the Bank of Japan's further monetary easing decision, as well as on gains in the U.S. stocks market. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 284.35 points, or 1.62 percent, higher from Friday to 17,802.65.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 21.94 points, or 1.53 percent, to 1, 454.01.
