Tokyo shares fell Tuesday morning on weaker-than-expected industrial output for June.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 68.12 points, or 0.30 percent, from Monday to 22,476.72.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 15.51 points, or 0.88 percent, at 1,752.64.

Decliners were led by miscellaneous finance, electric power and gas, and air transportation issues.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan's industrial production in June fell 2.1 percent from a month earlier.
